Fun Day

Where do you go for a cheap but fun outing? It might be state park, mall or anywhere else. We chose to go to Filipino store and Bass Pro Shops! It has been a long time since my last shopped at Am-Pinoy International it’s a Filipino store here in Birmingham. So we went there and really had a great time picking up stuff that I craved for and Kyle’s favorite snack is “Sweet Corn” and Glenn’s favorite snack is Cracklings what about me? All those snacks that I miss. In fact I didn’t eat lunch but junky snacks!!! Our Pinoy store is such a great medicine for home sick.
Right after Pinoy store we decided to go to Bass Pro Shops -my husband’s ever favorite store as well as Kyle. The only reason why I come there is for gift shopping only. So I made them go there for fun and it turns out we had a great time. My father and son really enjoyed the shooting gallery in fact Glenn is such a great shooter, Kyle better than me hehehe. We roamed and enjoyed watching the aquarium and all those mounted animals around. The best of course was the refreshment area which was lavished with totally appetizing food that surely against diet. But it’s fun day why care? We got home tired exhausted but such have a great time together.
We can’t wait to be at the beach this weekend and get to see and stay with my sis-n-law because they live by the beach. Kyle is so excited so we are!

All of the above photos were taken at Bass Pro Shops!

Independence Day

Filipino Independence day celebration falls on every 12th of June. This year Fil-Am -Filipino American Association of Greater Birmingham (FAAGB) had their celebration at Marriot Hotel. This is my second attendance of this big event. I joined in last year but I wasn’t a member yet so this year I opted to sign my membership because of a good cause and I really enjoyed every activities they have that I attended. It was always adorned with Filipino traditions through their musical presentations. It was indeed a nice get together and a chance to meet fellow countrymen from far different part of Alabama. It happened that I went just myself and friends and my beloved husband decided to stay home and keep Kyle (free sitting) but I still wish he could have come and he will definitely enjoy the program and the food.
The only thing that I don’t like is the food. I surely hate steak if I have a choice it would be great to have a Filipino delicacies but it won’t happened because it was arranged to have an American dinner served. But I hate not to eat because I’m paying for it and I was starving too. So I decided why not ask? So I did, if I can have a to go box! But they looked at me funny since it’s a “sitting down “ dinner. With all those fuzzed I had I still ended up eating the whole plate and ate the whole steak! Well I might as well consumed it since it's paid for. Rigth thereafter, I was so full and wished I didn’t eat the whole a lot because my tummy starts to poke out! I’m so conscious with my tummy since I’m wearing dress and it’s not lose. But what can I do? But to suck it in and hoping it won’t poke back out!
Anyway fellow Filipinos and some American did a “Tinikling” presentation it’s a national dance in the Philippines and they did a great job performing it. I bet they’d practiced many days to come up with a perfection. Then the disco time kicks in!!! A circle of friends came hit the dance floor and do the electric slide it was fun!!! I took some pictures to share to all of you who didn’t make it! So next year try to come and have a social event with your fellow kababayan from all different side of Alabama.

VBS

The Vacation Bible School is finally over!!! It was a buys but fun weekend! This year's theme was "Boomerang Express" everything about Australia from Kangaroo to Koala and etc. The kids had really a great time especially my Kyle. The VBS is the good way to introduce Jesus to our little ones which they will embodied activities, praise and worship and art about God!!! It's a fun way to know Jesus. The teachers really indeed did a great job of keeping these kids to their feet. My Kyle most definitely had a big influenced in it he'd come home singing the praise and worship and same time applying the values that he had learned from the VBS. Way to go Kyle.
Despite of hectic schedule at school our beloved Janne (Aunt Janne) and Mike came to stay with us in a couple of days and it really is an awesome time together with them. Kyle just have a blast with Aunt Janne. Too bad they are leaving today too and probably we'll see them sometimes I hope it won't be that long....
Well.. I guess I have to end this entry and we're off to go in a little while for Kyle's friend's party in a little while.... and that's about it Happy Father's Day to all Dads!!!

Happily Married!!!

Wow it didn't seems like we have been married for seven years. The years flew by quickly and every words we promised on our wedding day were indeed happened to us: in sickness and in health; for richer or for poorer 'til death do us part.
In sickness - when Glenn got sick and almost lost his leg. It was a very challenging moments of our lives. He was in the hospital for almost two months, has been transported from one hospital to another and until they finally diagnosed and treated him and after two surgeries THANK GOD his leg being saved. It has been more than a year after this traumatic experience we had..
For richer or for poorer- we are definitely in recession! But despite of it we stand still as strong as ever! Through God everything was made possible and He really is our strenght and refuge. Glenn is doing really great and he's back to his normal life being a good husband and a father. Life is wonderful when you are surrounded with love and blessing from up above.
Happy anniversary asawa ko!!!

My Own Made

I'm pretty much handy and very experimentative. If I can picture it in my mind, I'll go ahead actualize it. I love sewing pretty much if- I'm not working! I'll probably doing some scrapbooking or just being lazy- wandering with Kyle somewhere. Despite of my hectic schedule at work I still manage to do my hobby. One day we went visited to my cousin'n house and I saw a bar stool being trashed and waited to be picked up. The seat was stained and not pleasant to look at. So asked her if I could have it. They gave it to me and few days later I bought some remnant fabric from "Hancock Fabrics" one of my favorites store. Then I recovered it.

Voila!!!!

That's Kyle he was so excited when he saw it so he wants me to take his picture while sitting on it. I forgot to take the old picture. I didn't even think about it 'til I saw the finished product. I was very convinced and pretty much satisfied of the outcome.

So why not take it to the next level? My husband loves his recliner so much he even suggested that I can buy new recliner one day since I hated it but he'd still keep the old one. So I thought it was just a waste of money and space. This recliner was red and worn out. So I decided to reupholster it and so I did.

Voila!!!

I was so thrilled when I finished my hands and back were sore but it was worthed. I saved $300 for re-upholstering it. I bought this upholstery fabric very cheap from the remnant table it was suede just right to match my sofa.

Few weeks later I bought a bag of remnant from "Hancock Fabrics" so this is what I came up:

and our Kyle can't wait to see the finished product and of course wants his picture made with it.

Above are some of my own made projects if I am at home. I will post some of my creations sometimes. If you have any questions just leave me a comment on this entry and I am wiling to help...

Post Graduation

Under Construction

Bye bye school year and hello summer program!!! It has been a busy week before the summer program starts on Monday. This week it's a "packing week", I mean literally packing, we gather boxes from every sources we could think of and we even solicited from parents help to bring us boxes. The order for us is to vacate the rooms was deemed tiring and stressful but every teachers and everybody was being helpful and we made it! Every teacher had emptied their classroom in due time which is today is the last day. However despite of those commotions of packing and moving here and there the kids loved it. It became an activity for them and they are so excited about the "make over". By Monday our school building will be under construction.
However the program still be in progress despite of the construction and we are utilizing the SOC (Student Outreach Center) and I admit the rooms in the SOC are not roomy but just right for the children and some centers on it. This construction has to be done before the school year will start on August and I can't wait for this "make over". It's going to be exciting and interesting scenario on Monday and yet we can witness the progress on this construction on our very own eyes although just partly because we'll be attending our classes hehehe.

So this weekend is totally my day off to take some rest atleast for few hours before I head to my part time job. But my boys - Glenn and Kyle will be wandering just themselves. Glenn will be fishing with his buddy and Kyle will be partying with his Aunt Jocelyn. Sounds GREAT! In fact me and Kyle already packed his back pack for tomorrow he even gathered all his beach paraphernalia for their swimming tomorrow from his sunblock down to his goggles. I can't wait to find out when they get back home tomorrow night.

It'd be a very interesting Monday since the construction will begin.

Graduation Day!!!

Yay our beloved son graduated from K-4!!! We are super excited to witness this memorable event of his life with his fellow pre-schoolers on stage. It was a simple graduation ceremony but lavished with adorable and superb pre-schoolers. They were surely the higlight of that day definitely. It was a mix feeling of emotions watching them ramped on stage, a feeling of joy because they completed the K-4 and a feeling of sadness because we will definitely miss the teacher and especially the his classmates. They have been together and become friends since they were toddler and from not being potty train and up to this time. All of them will be going to different schools and to where Kyle is going nobody from his class would be there but Kyle.
The parents of this class are so awesome and sweet. I will definitely miss them too. Anyway back to Kyle's graduation it was pretty good. Their teacher really worked hard for the kids to master those graduation songs wondefully. It was perfectly sang and so compelling. Me and Glenn just so proud watching them. They are so excited to received their diploma even though it was accompanied with some bloopers heheheh. Some of them just showing their silliness and really stir up the crowd hehehe. Our Kyle did great in singing so proud of all the pre-schoolers. I can't wait to find out how would they handle the BIG school by fall.
CONGRATULATIONS KYLE!!!
